Trump Picks Big Oil Chief for Secretary of State

President-elect Donald J. Trump picked chief executive officer of Exxon Mobile, Rex Tillerson, to become Secretary of State. Mr. Tillerson faces bipartisan resistance in the senate for his close ties to Russian president, Vladimir Putin. The two have been friends for a very long time, dating back to the Russian regime of president Boris Yeltsin, when Tillerson represented the interests of ExxonMobil Corp in Russia. So close to Putin is Mr. Tillerson, that about five years ago the Russian regime has conferred to Tillerson the award of Order of Friendship.  Under Tillerson, ExxonMobil has entered into partnership with Rosneft, a Russian government-supported company, the New York Times reported. It also reported that Mr. Tillerson has donated to Russian health and social services.
